Chew Problems |
|
Since chew users back then would often use many times a day, the constant opening and closing of the wax coated boxes would often break them down quickly and cause the tobacco to get a bit hard and dry. Another issue was how long a pouch would last when it was kept in the back pocket or the front pocket of a pair of overhauls. the packages would often tear open causing the tobacco to get all over the pockets or falling out completely. Farmers and cowboys all over the states were clamoring for a way that they could enjoy their chew while out working without the worry of wasting money by tobacco falling out of their pouches. In the early 1900’s, they got their wish with the invention of plug chewing tobacco! |
